The adventure begins with hotel pickup in Puno, followed by a ride to the lake, where you’ll board a small traditional fishing boat to a lesser-visited area of the Uros islands.
This hands-on experience lets you dive into the daily lives of the locals. You’ll learn how they harvest totora—a plant used to build their islands and boats—and even help cut the reeds. You’ll also try traditional fishing techniques. Depending on the season, you may help collect bird eggs and see how bird traps are set. The Uros hosts will proudly share how they build their floating islands and showcase their handmade crafts.
