HOMESTAY UROS - AMANTANI - TAQUILE 2D-1N.
DAY 1: UROS & AMANTANÍ – BETWEEN TOTORA REEDS AND ANCESTRAL TRADITIONS
Your adventure begins early in the morning, with pickup from your hotel in downtown Puno between 7:40 and 8:00 a.m. From the port, you’ll board a motorboat to the fascinating floating islands of the Uros, a unique community living on islands made entirely of totora reeds. Learn how these ancient people build their homes, boats, and even the ground beneath their feet using this native aquatic plant.
You’ll then continue your voyage across the deep blue waters of Lake Titicaca to the mystical island of Amantaní, a serene and remote place untouched by modern distractions. Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed by a local family who will host you in their humble home offering you not just accommodation, but a chance to live as they live.
Amantaní is a volcanic island known for its peaceful landscapes, terraced hillsides, and deeply rooted customs. Life here revolves around agriculture, weaving, and spiritual connection with the apus sacred mountain spirits. You’ll share a home-cooked Andean lunch, featuring local ingredients such as quinoa, potatoes, beans, and fresh lake trout, lovingly prepared by your host family.
In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a hike to the ancient Pachatata Temple, perched atop Coanos hill. This pre-Inca ceremonial site, dedicated to the male deity of fertility, sits across from the Pachamama Temple (Mother Earth) and still hosts ritual ceremonies during traditional festivals. From this sacred site, you’ll witness an unforgettable sunset over Lake Titicaca, with sweeping views of the surrounding islands and the snowcapped peaks of Bolivia.
As night falls, those interested can join a traditional peña gathering organized by the community. Dressed in colorful local clothing ponchos, embroidered skirts, and woolen chullos you’ll join the families in a joyful evening of music, dancing, and cultural sharing beneath a sky full of stars.
DAY 2: AMANTANÍ – TAQUILE – RETURN TO PUNO
Wake to the sound of roosters and enjoy a warm Andean breakfast served by your host family. After heartfelt goodbyes, you’ll continue by boat to the neighboring island of Taquile, home to one of the most remarkable textile traditions in the world.
You’ll walk along scenic stone paths lined with ancient agricultural terraces, arriving at the village center. Here, you’ll witness how men weave symbolic garments, using patterns that indicate social status, marital status, and community roles a cultural art form recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

"Good service"
We requested two tours for Colca canyon and Uros Floating Islands in Titicaca Lake. Because it was our first time dealing with high altitudes, we were feeling pretty sick and Inca's Paradise without any extra fee agreed to postpone our second tour until we got better. We really appreciated what they have done for us! Even more, Gumercinda helped us to find some hotels around the area. We had a lovely and safe trip :) Leer Más...
