PRIVATE TOUR INCA UYO - CHUCUITO ½ DAY (MORNING - AFTERNOON)

Chucuito "The City of Royal Boxes", a name given to it because in colonial times it was the main tax collection center and because of its famous silver mines; it is currently a quiet town that houses ancestral vestiges such as:

• The temple of fertility or "Inca Uyo" has 80 phalluses carved in stone. There, ceremonies dedicated to the fertility of Mother Earth were made and it was used as a geodetic-astronomical observatory for agricultural activities.
• The Inquisition Cross, a religious structure, placed to impose justice and eradicate the adoration of indigenous people to their gods, accusing them of heretics.
• Main Square whose center houses the sundial, used in colonial times as a place to announce royal decrees.
• Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción built in 1568, it has a nave in the shape of a Latin cross. It is currently a museum that contains religious furniture, sculptures, altarpieces, paintings from the 18th century (Coronation of the Virgin by the Holy Trinity).
• Church of Santo Domingo is the oldest in the highlands of Puno, built in 1532 with marked renaissance characteristics. Inside is the image of the Virgen del Rosario.
• Chucuito’s look-out is a place from which you can appreciate the beautiful landscape of Lake Titicaca and during carnival time is a stage for the cacharparis (farewell dance).
